Our framework of Committees ensures that decisions affecting REC arrangements can be made promptly by expert representatives with an acute understanding of impacts on the whole market.
REC Committees are independently chaired groups of industry experts, who meet regularly to consider critical issues and make key decisions related to the REC arrangements. The REC Committees are:
We managed the process to appoint industry represetatives to each of the REC Committees before REC go-live. We drafted Terms of Reference, appointed Chairs, and establish robust and consistent processes to ensure uniformity between each of the groups.
Committee meetings take place virtually, reducing the time committment on our appointed Members, as well as minimising the carbon footprint of the REC by eradicating the need for travel.
In line with the RECCo values of digitalisation and collaboration, we've implemented collaboration spaces for all REC Committees to allow members to contribute or raise areas for discussion between meetings. These spaces allow for interaction, file sharing and continued progress outside of the cyclic meeting schedules. We plan to only hold meetings where strictly necessary, by maximising the work that can take place between scheduled sessions.
Although not a REC committee, we have been chairing the Code Administrators Code of Practice (CACoP) Forum since September 2021. This group is made up of all code administrators and code managers across the industry. As a group, we define and deliver strategic work to improve the collaboration between industry code bodies. Details on the work and progress can be found on the CACoP website.
As we move forward, we are listening closely to the requirements of stakeholders, and designing better ways to ensure effective engagement and involvement of all interested parties within Committee processes. We've recently spoken with stakeholders about a drive to establish new Operational Metering Forums under the remit of the Metering Expert Panel - we're getting the wheels in motion to make that happen as soon as possible.
